The Olympia-Rafah Sister City Project is proud to offer a series of pastel works created by artists in Rafah though the Palestinian Artists Association. The works were carried out from Rafah and brought to Olympia by ORSCP delegates and have been on display in Olympia during Arts Walk.
If you’re interested in either showing or purchasing these works, please send a message to art@orscp.org.

Needlework from the General Union of Palestinian Women
Because of the ongoing occupation of Gaza, regular trade really isn’t possible with the outside world for the most part. Through the Olympia-Rafah Sister City Project, craftwork and art are able to be sold in locations around Olympia. We offer items for sale at Sister City events in Olympia and at Traditions Café and World Folk Art (300 5th Avenue SW, Olympia, WA 98501). In the past, ORSCP has brought Olive Oil to South Sound from Palestinian producers. We’re currently working with the General Union of Palestinian Women in Rafah to bring needlework to Olympia for sale.
To find out more about GUPW go to their website here.
The General Union of Palestinian Women (GUPW) was established in 1965 as a body within the Palestinian Liberation Organization and according is considered to be the official representative body for Palestinian women around the world . It is also the umbrella for all women’s organizations in Palestine and in exile.
The main goal of GUPW, since its establishment, has been to mobilize women within Palestinian communities to participate in various social, economic and political processes, which contribute to their development. For many years, GUPW has been politically active, supporting Palestinian women at the forefront of the liberation struggle in all its aspects and historical stages, at the nationalistic and social levels.
GUPW has also taken on a welfare-related role in its activities in support of Palestinian individuals and families who have suffered losses in the struggle for national liberation and independence.
